How the database works

How the database works

This platform is a collaboratively maintained slot car database. Here we collect knowledge about models, keep entries tidy and make changes transparent and traceable.

Measurement sketch and dimensions

For many vehicles you can add measurements. The sketch helps you assign the measurement points correctly (e.g. length, width, height, wheelbase or guide keel dimensions).

Nothing is mandatory — but if you record measurements, please do so carefully and accurately.

What do the measurements mean?

Sketch with all measurement points — please provide values in millimetres.

🔍 Click the sketch for a larger view.

Length / Width / Height
Overall vehicle dimensions, measured at the widest points.
Wheelbase
Center of front wheel ↔ center of rear wheel.
Front edge -> Guide
From the vehicle's front edge to the front edge of the guide keel.
Guide front -> Front axle
From the front edge of the guide keel to the center of the front axle.
Guide rear -> Rear axle
From the rear edge of the guide keel to the center of the rear axle.
Track width front/rear
Outer edge ↔ outer edge of both wheels on one axle.
Tyre width front/rear
Inner edge ↔ outer edge of a tyre.
Tyre diameter front/rear
Overall mounted tyre diameter per axle.
Height chassis underside -> highest point
Measure from the lowest chassis underside to the highest point of the car.

Adding entries

  • Registered users can easily add new vehicles.
  • The important fields are clear values like manufacturer, model name, scale and technical details.
  • Additional images can be uploaded separately as an image proposal.

How review works

  • Changes to existing records are submitted as proposals and are reviewed before publication.
  • New vehicle entries can also be reviewed before they become publicly visible.
  • Moderation helps to avoid duplicates and unclear or incorrect information.

Quality and traceability

Every published record should be understandable and verifiable to other users. Clear naming, complete fields and matching images are therefore particularly important. Proposals can be accepted or rejected if information is missing, implausible or already exists in the same form.

If you notice corrections, simply use the proposal features directly on the vehicle. This keeps changes documented and lets them flow cleanly back into the database.

Note for contributors

Please only add content that you can reliably assign or back up. If you are unsure, add a clear note in the text rather than entering guessed values as confirmed data.
